“...There was a group of preschool children in Keansburg, NJ, who were
visited by a storyteller. Her name was Ms. Ellen. At first, they were
unsure of her and hesitant to participate in her stories. But as time
passed, and stories were told, the children became comfortable, and soon
eagerly awaited her weekly visits. The stories touched the children’s minds
and hearts, and became a part of who they are. As the children prepared to
leave their preschool class, their teachers felt sure they would carry their
love of stories with them.” ~ Carolyn Hazeldine
Story
Time with Ms. Ellen is designed for Preschool classrooms. On a weekly or
bi-weekly schedule, Ellen will come into the classroom for a half-hour
session during which she will tell a classic story from the world’s folk
traditions. Each session includes an “Hello” activity, a guessing game, a
story, and an active participatory activity that complements the story. At
the end of the school year, the children will have an expansive repertoire
of stories and story motifs in their minds.
